HYDROTHERAPY

We offer an underwater treadmill rather than a swimming pool to allow for a greater range and control of movement than open water swimming. Our trained hydrotherapists can tailor the session to fit each individual patient with speed, inclination and water depth for targeted resistance preventing muscle atrophy and to accelerate muscle strengthening. This improves the joint range of motion and a faster return to previous function following an injury or surgery as well as maintaining and prolonging mobility in senior pets. The glass tank allows the therapists to evaluate gait and assist with re-education after a spinal or neurological injury or disease. The warmth of the water (32 degrees) increases blood flow and helps the muscles to relax, so comfort increases, joints loosen and movement is overall much easier than on land assisting with balance re-training and movement of painful or healing structures.
